ADC threatens legal action against Senator Abaribe in Abia

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abia State has threatened legal action against Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe for allegedly interfering in the party’s affairs and sponsoring a parallel executive committee in the state. The party stressed that Abaribe, who is not a member of the ADC, has no authority to influence its operations.
In a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Chiamaka Ohaka, the ADC accused the senator of establishing fake executives, improperly influencing party officers, and spreading falsehoods to destabilize the party. The statement warned Abaribe to remove all affiliated agents posing as ADC members within 48 hours, or face legal consequences.
“For clarity, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe is not a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and is therefore not affiliated with any level of the party from the ward to the national level. Yet, in a brazen display of political impropriety, he has created fake parallel executives and propagated malicious falsehoods aimed at dismantling the legitimate structure of the ADC in Abia State,” the statement read.
The ADC further stated that any attempt by Abaribe to hold parallel meetings, issue false press statements, or present impostors as party officials will be treated as a direct attack on the party’s integrity. The statement emphasized that Abaribe “lacks the authority to create discontent within the ADC” and warned of imminent legal action for impersonation, criminal conspiracy, and actions likely to breach peace if the interference continues.
Responding to the allegations, the senator’s media aide, Uche Awom, told Vanguard that Abaribe would not respond to the claims made by the party.
