Sowore claims Datti Baba-Ahmed knew Obi was a packaged fraud in 2023

The 2027 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that former Labour Party (LP) running mate Datti Baba-Ahmed knew Peter Obi was “a packaged fraud” when he served on the 2023 ticket.
Sowore made the claim on X while reacting to Datti’s remark that Obi, Atiku Abubakar and other politicians cannot improve Nigeria. “He knew Peter Obi, whom he deputized, was a packaged fraud. That needs no repeating, he just revealed what he knew up close,” Sowore wrote.
He also recalled the 2023 Peace Accord ceremony, saying he sat beside Datti and watched him show support for President Bola Tinubu. “I sat next to Datti in 2023 at the Peace Accord signing and watched him fawning over Tinubu.” Sowore said he posted about the incident at the time and alleged that Obi and Datti were working for Tinubu. Supporters rejected that charge then, he added, but “know better” now. He urged Nigerians to vote wisely in 2027.
The post folds three arguments into one: that Datti’s current criticism of Obi is belated honesty, that a handshake at a peace event was evidence of alignment with Tinubu, and that the 2023 ticket was not what its voters thought. None of those points is a court finding. They are campaign charges from a rival who finished far behind that ticket and is running again.
What the exchange does show is how 2023 alliances are being rewritten in public. Datti is no longer bound to defend a ticket he has left. Sowore is using that distance to revive an old accusation and to tell his audience that yesterday’s warning has been vindicated.
Voters still have to separate a Peace Accord photograph from a conspiracy, and a bitter quote from proof. Until someone produces more than a recollection of who sat where, the allegation remains a political memory war, not a settled record of who worked for whom.
