See the phones eligible for the new Android 17 release

The tech world is buzzing as the expected June 2026 rollout of Android 17 draws closer for smartphone users. This major upgrade promises a variety of fresh features and improved system performance for compatible devices.

A significant shift in manufacturer policies since 2025 means many users will enjoy longer software life cycles. Most brands now commit to at least five years of updates, though some older models will finally lose support this year.

Google Pixel and Samsung lead the update race

Google will naturally lead the rollout, providing the update first to its line of Pixel devices. Owners of the Pixel 6 series up to the upcoming Pixel 10 Pro XL can expect to receive the new operating system.

Samsung also remains a leader in long-term support, offering up to seven generations of updates for flagship models. The Galaxy S26, S25, S24, and S23 series are all on the list, along with newer Z Fold and Flip variants.

Xiaomi and OnePlus outline their update roadmaps

Xiaomi plans to bring Android 17 to a wide range of devices, including its flagship numbered series and Redmi Note lineup. However, the company has not yet released a transparent timeline for every specific model.

OnePlus users with the 11, 12, and 13 series are also in line for the upgrade according to official roadmaps. Brands like Honor and Oppo are similarly preparing to push the update to their latest Find and Magic series devices.

Older models set to lose software support

While many phones will enjoy the new features, several popular older models are reaching the end of their journey. Samsung’s Galaxy S22 series and the Z Fold 4 will likely miss out on the Android 17 update.

Motorola and Sony are also finalizing their lists, with newer Edge and Xperia models taking priority. Users are advised to check their specific manufacturer’s commitment as the June 2026 launch date approaches.
