Rivers Court halts impeachment process gainst Governor Fubara, Deputy

A Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt has ordered the Chief Judge of the state to refrain from receiving or acting on any impeachment notice against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his Deputy, Ngozi Odu.

The order comes after members of the Rivers State House of Assembly formally requested the Chief Judge on Friday to set up a panel to investigate allegations of gross misconduct against the governor and his deputy.

The lawmakers, who approved the request through a unanimous vote, had pledged to continue with the impeachment process.

However, the court’s injunction now suspends the process, pending further legal proceedings.
