President Tinubu establishes new unit to monitor health sector funds

President Bola Tinubu has approved the creation of a new unit, the Sector-wide Coordinating Office-Programme Management Unit (SCO-PMU), to oversee the management of funds allocated for the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative (NHSRII).

The SCO-PMU will ensure transparency and accountability in the use of funds for the NHSRII project, according to a statement by presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale on Friday, July 26.

“The unit was created to ensure transparency and accountable management of funds to be spent on the implementation of the NHSRII project,” Ngelale said in the statement.

The unit’s establishment is aimed at guaranteeing effective and efficient implementation of the NHSRII, a key healthcare initiative of the administration.

The NHSRII project seeks to revitalize the country’s health sector through targeted investments and reforms.

With the SCO-PMU in place, the government aims to prevent mismanagement and ensure that funds are utilized for their intended purpose.
