Portable denies theft allegation, fires back at VeryDarkMan in diss track
Controversial street-hop artist Portable has denied stealing allegations made by social commentator VeryDarkMan, as their online feud continues to escalate.
The clash began after VeryDarkMan called on President Bola Tinubu to address the worsening economic crisis and the killings in Benue State. In response, Portable posted a video on Instagram criticizing VeryDarkMan for attacking the president, claiming the activist only began enjoying a luxurious lifestyle under Tinubu’s administration.
VeryDarkMan fired back by leaking an old video from 2020, allegedly showing Portable being beaten for stealing a tricycle before he rose to fame. He followed it up on Wednesday with a diss track, mocking Portable and repeatedly chanting “Ole!” (thief).
In a retaliatory snippet posted on Instagram, Portable dismissed the theft claims and took personal shots at VeryDarkMan.
“VeryDarkMan, your mother. You’re a poor person. Your father is a shoe maker. I take after my father — I’m not a thief. Stop calling me a thief,” he sang in the diss track, before going on to accuse VeryDarkMan of being gay — a claim likely aimed at provoking controversy.
The online back-and-forth has drawn mixed reactions, with many viewers calling for both parties to de-escalate, while others continue to fuel the drama on social media.
