Peter Obi denies defection to PDP, reaffirms allegiance to ADC

Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has denied reports claiming he is set to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), dismissing the statement as false and misleading.
In a statement released on Tuesday by Ibrahim Umar of the Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR), Obi reaffirmed his commitment to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), clarifying that he remains firmly aligned with the ongoing coalition efforts under that platform.
The statement read:
“Peter Obi has been unequivocal in his position in the ongoing coalition and didn’t need anyone to put words into his mouth. He has remained focused on his mission but would not accept anybody attributing a statement to him just to satisfy their devious agenda.”
The media office also urged the public to disregard any claims or announcements not issued through Obi’s official communication channels.
“The media office wishes, therefore, to urge the public to disregard any statement purported to come from him outside his media office or his official handle,” the statement concluded.
