PDP Board to meet Wike in January to resolve party crisis
On Thursday, December 5, the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) announced plans to meet with former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike in January to address the ongoing crisis within the party.
During an emergency meeting in Abuja, PDP BoT Chairman Senator Adolphus Wabara emphasized the need for unity within the party, stressing that the party’s strength lies in collective effort, not individual ambitions. He said, “We cannot afford to let personal ambitions or differences overshadow our shared vision for a better Nigeria.”
Wabara called for dialogue, collaboration, and shared responsibility as the PDP works through its challenges. He added, “The BoT will begin again to search for peace in the new year, starting with former Governor Nyesom Wike, whom we promised to meet again in our efforts to achieve lasting peace.”
Additionally, Wabara criticized the Umar Damagum-led National Working Committee for repeatedly postponing the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, noting that these delays are eroding trust and confidence among party members. He said, “This delay not only undermines the trust and confidence of our members.”
