Pastor Paul Adefarasin reports to Lagos police over viral firearm video

Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, has reported to the Lagos State Police Command following the circulation of a viral video allegedly showing him holding a firearm during an encounter with a content creator in Lagos.
This was confirmed via WhatsApp by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, who stated that the pastor is currently being interrogated.
The video, which surfaced online last week, showed Pastor Adefarasin holding a metallic object while speaking to a passerby who appeared to be filming the exchange. The clip sparked widespread speculation, with many social media users alleging that the object was a firearm.
In response to the controversy, Adefarasin addressed his congregation in a message posted on his social media platforms on Saturday, June 15, clarifying that the object in question was not a firearm and denying that it was pointed at anyone. He described the claims as a misunderstanding and expressed dismay over the viral spread of what he said was false information.
CSP Hundeyin, in his message to journalists, wrote:
“No one is above the law! Pastor Paul Adefarasin has turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, and is currently being interrogated by detectives.
They have commenced an investigation into the case following the emergence of a video showing the pastor holding a gun-like object toward another road user while driving in an unregistered vehicle.
The outcome of the investigation will be made public.”
The police have not yet confirmed the nature of the object or whether any charges will be filed.
