Governor Ademola Adeleke’s media aide, Olawale Rasheed, is not holding back when it comes to the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirants in Osun State. In a statement released on Thursday in Osogbo, Rasheed labeled all APC hopefuls for the 2026 race as “unelectable.”
He said they don’t come close to Adeleke’s performance since taking office and accused them of launching “weak campaigns” by attacking a governor with over 75% approval ratings.
Omisore’s record questioned
Rasheed took a direct swipe at Senator Iyiola Omisore, pointing out that a major road passing through Omisore’s family home in Ile Ife was fixed by Adeleke — something he claims the senator never bothered to do during his time in office.
He also accused Omisore of abandoning key projects like the Ife stadium and waterworks, asking why those opportunities were missed. Rasheed praised Adeleke’s ongoing work in Ile Ife, including roads and a flyover meant to boost the local economy.
Babayemi under fire over Osogbo comments
Prince Dotun Babayemi, another APC aspirant, also came under criticism. Rasheed said Babayemi’s comments about Osogbo’s infrastructure projects showed “poor political judgment.” He reminded the public that Adeleke had rebuilt a collapsed bridge in Gbongan and executed several road projects in the area.
“The Gbongan people won’t forget who actually showed up for them,” Rasheed added.
Oyebamiji called a political newbie
The statement didn’t spare Bola Oyebamiji either. Rasheed described him as a political “newbie” who is trying to ride on the influence of a former governor who lost re-election. He also pointed to Oyebamiji’s reported anti-labour stance and alleged incompetence at his current federal post.
“They can’t match Adeleke’s record”
In summary, Rasheed insisted none of the APC aspirants have Adeleke’s “goodwill, achievements, or political structure” to compete in 2026.
“From top to bottom, they’re no match,” he said.
