Nigerian singer Orezi has said he will end his friendship with anyone who supports American mother Lindsay Clancy over the deaths of her three children.
In a post on his official Instagram account, he reacted to online opinions about the case and said he would not accept any form of support for Clancy from his friends, whatever angle they used to judge the situation. “If you are my friend and I see that you support Lindsay Clancy in any type of way, no matter what angle you decide to judge her situation from, consider our friendship over,” he wrote.
He added that he would confront any friend who argued with him on the matter, saying he could not understand empathy toward Clancy. He noted that three children died, one of them eight months old, and called for her to remain in prison.
The post treats a criminal case as a test of personal loyalty. Orezi is not offering a legal brief. He is drawing a line: friendship ends where he sees sympathy for the woman accused in the children’s deaths. Social media often splits such cases between those who focus only on the harm done to the children and those who raise questions about mental health, evidence or sentencing. Orezi rejects that second lane outright. For his audience the statement is a moral veto, not an invitation to debate.
Public figures who police their friends’ views on a tragedy usually discover that the argument then moves from the courtroom to their own comment section. Whether Clancy’s case is later settled by a verdict, an appeal or a medical finding, Orezi has already stated the only outcome he will accept in his circle: no support, and jail. That is a personal boundary.
It is not a substitute for the facts a court must weigh. Readers who want the legal record still have to look past a celebrity ultimatum to the filings and the judgment, not to an Instagram warning about friendship.
