Ogun seals Gbenga Daniel’s hotels, threatens demolition

Properties locked up in Sagamu GRA
The Ogun State government has sealed off Asoludero Court, Conference Hotels, and its annex in Sagamu GRA — all owned by former governor and current senator, Gbenga Daniel.
The shutdown happened Monday, just three days after the state issued a quit notice, accusing the properties of violating the Ogun State Urban and Regional Planning and Development Law No. 61 of 2022.
Officials move in
Planning authority staff from the Sagamu Zonal Office stormed the sites mid-morning, pasting fresh “Sealing” and “Demolition” notices on gates and walls. Both were dated August 11, 2025 and gave a three-day ultimatum to “remove the contravention” or face demolition.
The notices warned the owners not to tamper with the seals and stated the government wouldn’t be responsible for any losses during the closure.
Political bad blood?
Gbenga Daniel claims the buildings were legally built before the 2022 law existed, calling the move politically motivated and a “blatant disregard for due process.”
Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration hasn’t publicly responded to that allegation, but it’s clear the standoff is heating up.
