Mohbad’s wife laments burial delay, accuses father-in-law of manipulation

Nearly two years after the tragic death of Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, his wife, Wunmi, has revealed that she has yet to find closure as his body remains in the mortuary with no burial date in sight.

In an emotional interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Wunmi expressed deep frustration over the prolonged delay, alleging that Mohbad’s father is deliberately preventing the burial for personal reasons despite multiple autopsies being conducted.

“I haven’t had any closure since my husband died, and sometimes it feels like he’s still alive. He’s in Yaba morgue and still has not been buried, and it’s so, so sad,” she said tearfully.

She disclosed that two autopsies—one conducted by the government and another privately arranged by Mohbad’s father—had already been performed, making the continued delay unjustifiable in her view.

“He has been cut open twice. The government autopsy and the private one that my father-in-law did. I can tell you that there is no genuine reason why he’s still there. My father-in-law has no reason for keeping him there, yet he keeps saying that the government isn’t letting Mohbad get justice and has been manipulating the public.”

Wunmi also spoke about the threats and emotional turmoil she has endured since Mohbad’s passing, stating that she constantly receives death threats online.

“Sometimes I feel like God cheated my husband; he didn’t have to die. We no longer feel safe, and I get death threats literally every day in my DMs. It has gotten to the point that I either speak up or die in silence.”

Furthermore, she accused her father-in-law of trying to take control of Mohbad’s assets while undermining her position as his widow. She also claimed that he had ridiculed her son, Liam, whom she shares with the late singer.

The controversy surrounding Mohbad’s death continues to generate public debate, with fans and observers calling for clarity and justice in the ongoing investigation.
