Michelle and Barack Obama celebrate 33rd wedding anniversary amid rumors of rift

Former U.S. President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama marked their 33rd wedding anniversary with affectionate messages on social media, countering ongoing speculation about strains in their marriage.
The couple, who tied the knot in 1992, shared the same smiling selfie on Wednesday. “We’ve been on quite the journey over the last 33 years—and yet, I love you even more today than the day we said ‘I do,’” Michelle, 61, wrote, calling herself “lucky” to go through life with Barack.
Barack, 64, praised his wife in return, writing: “The best decision I ever made was marrying you, @MichelleObama. For 33 years, I’ve admired your strength, grace, and determination — and the fact that you look so good doing it all. Happy anniversary!”
The Obamas share two daughters, Malia, 27, and Sasha, 24. In recent years, their relationship has been the subject of persistent divorce rumors. Michelle addressed the speculation earlier this year, saying she had “never once” considered leaving her husband.
The former first lady acknowledged the ups and downs of marriage, noting: “We’ve had some really hard times. So, we had a lot of fun times, a lot of adventures, and I have become a better person because of the man I’m married to.”
Michelle also recently joked on her podcast about Barack’s eating habits, quipping that the way he chews sometimes makes her want to “smack” him.
