Kobbie Mainoo, Manchester United’s 18-year-old midfielder has been called up by manager Gareth Southgate to the England national team for this week’s set of international friendlies.
Mainoo has impressed this season, having been injured when the season started, but he returned from injury in October 2023, making his first appearance for the senior team this season against Everton at Goodison Park on November 26.
The youngster will hope to feature in England’s friendly against Brazil on Saturday, March 23. A start or substitute appearance in this game would allow him to put himself in contention for competitive England games.
Mainoo has been very good for Man United this season, with his passing and dribbling instrumental to many Manchester United attacks.
Mainoo scored a superb winning goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the 94th minute in February 2024, after Gary O’Neil’s men had found a late equalizer, leaving viewers and fans to conclude that Man United would only pick up one point in that game.
