Manchester United begin talks with RB Leipzig over Benjamin Sesko transfer

Manchester United have reportedly opened negotiations with RB Leipzig for the signing of Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko, according to ESPN.
The Bundesliga side are said to have set an asking price between €80 million and €90 million for the 22-year-old forward — a valuation that could prove too steep for United’s current transfer budget. However, the Premier League club may explore the option of including players in a swap deal to help lower the cost.
Sesko, who joined Leipzig from sister club Red Bull Salzburg in 2023, has scored 39 goals in 87 appearances for the German side, earning him attention from top European clubs. His blend of pace, physicality, and finishing ability has made him one of the most sought-after young strikers in Europe.
United are not alone in the race for his signature, as Newcastle United have also shown interest in the Slovenian international.
While Sesko remains a top target, United are said to be weighing up other options, including Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, as a potentially more affordable and Premier League-proven alternative. However, Villa are reportedly not open to selling the 29-year-old striker this summer.
As United look to reinforce their attacking options under Erik ten Hag, the club’s next move in negotiations with Leipzig will be closely watched.
