Liverpool wrestles Sheffield United into submission
Liverpool did the needful against bottom-placed Sheffield United at Anfield on Thursday, April 4, to return to the top of the Premier League table.
Liverpool beat Sheffield United 3-1, compounding the 20th-placed team’s problem.
Striker Darwin Nunez gave the home side the lead in the 17th minute, but no other goal would be scored until the 58th minute, and it would be an own goal by Liverpool right back Conor Bradley to equalize the game.
Argentina midfielder Alexis Mac Allister finally restored Liverpool’s lead in the 76th minute, before substitute Cody Gakpo sealed the victory with a 90th minute goal.
This win makes it 21 wins now for Liverpool in the league, with no other team winning more games than the league leaders. Arsenal has also won 21 league games.
