Lagos shines as 6th best city for nightlife globally
In a remarkable achievement, Lagos, Nigeria’s bustling metropolis, has been ranked the 6th best city worldwide for its vibrant nightlife, according to Time Out Magazine’s 2024 Outlook.
The city’s impressive ranking, surpassing renowned destinations like Dubai and Miami, is a testament to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s tireless efforts to enhance tourism and entertainment in Lagos.
By creating an enabling environment and prioritizing security, the governor has successfully positioned Lagos as a hub for nightlife enthusiasts.
Lagos’ nightlife scene is a significant contributor to the city’s economy, with a forecasted direct contribution to Nigeria’s GDP of approximately $3.4 billion in 2026. This growth is a result of the city’s increasing popularity among tourists and locals alike.
Time Out Magazine, a global authority on city living, operates in 333 cities across 59 countries, making Lagos’ ranking a notable accomplishment. The city’s 6th place position is only surpassed by Rio de Janeiro, Manila, Berlin, Guadalajara, and Austin.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, expressed pride in the achievement, citing Governor Sanwo-Olu’s initiatives as the driving force behind Lagos’ success.
