Carabao Cup final: Neville, Keane predict Liverpool to beat Newcastle

On Thursday, March 13, former Premier League legends Gary Neville and Roy Keane shared their predictions for the upcoming Carabao Cup final between Liverpool and Newcastle United, set to take place at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

Neville and Keane, now pundits, both believe Liverpool will emerge victorious in the domestic title clash, despite the club’s recent heartbreak. Liverpool enters the final following a tough loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday, where they were eliminated on penalties (4-1) after a 1-1 aggregate score.

In contrast, Newcastle have had a mixed run of form, with their latest result being a 1-0 victory over West Ham United in the Premier League on Monday.

Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast alongside Arsenal legend Ian Wright, both Neville and Keane expressed confidence in a Liverpool win.

Neville predicted, “Here we go – I think Liverpool will win 2-1 or 2-0… 2-0 Liverpool.” When Wright asked if he thought Newcastle’s Alexander Isak might score at Wembley, Neville responded, “Do you know something? Newcastle never play well at Wembley.”

Keane echoed Neville’s sentiment, predicting a 3-1 win for Liverpool, reinforcing the view that the Reds will take home the trophy.

Should their predictions come true, it would mark Liverpool’s first silverware under their new manager, Arne Slot.
