Lagos APC fires back at Bauchi governor over 2027 politics claim

“We’re focused on governance, not campaigns,” says party

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has dismissed accusations by Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State that the ruling party is already prioritising politics ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued Friday by APC Lagos spokesman Seye Oladejo, the party described Mohammed’s comments as a “misplaced outburst” from a “frustrated opposition.”

Tinubu remains focused, APC insists

Oladejo said President Bola Tinubu and the APC remain focused on delivering results, not politicking.

“Tinubu and the APC remain fully focused on the governance agenda—driving bold reforms across the economy, security, infrastructure, and institutions,” Oladejo said.

He accused opposition leaders of “grandstanding in the media” while the APC is busy tackling tough national challenges.

Lagos as a model, says party

The Lagos APC also pointed to Lagos as a prime example of APC-led governance that works, urging Bala Mohammed to “look to Lagos” for lessons on consistency and people-focused leadership.

“We urge Gov. Mohammed to channel his energy into governing Bauchi, rather than attacking the APC and the Federal Government without cause,” Oladejo added.

Opposition has the right, but…

While acknowledging the right of opposition leaders to speak out, the party found it “ironic and regrettable” that such comments came from Mohammed, given the challenges in his own state.

With political tensions rising ahead of 2027, the Lagos APC’s message is clear: governance first, campaigns later.
