Lagos announces road closures for 10km Capital City Race
The Lagos State Government has announced partial road closures ahead of the maiden edition of the 10-kilometer Capital City Race, scheduled for Saturday, November 23. The race, which will run from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m., will impact several major routes in the Ikeja area.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, disclosed the traffic diversion in a statement on Friday. The affected routes include Shoprite Alausa Ikeja inwards Billings Way, Kudirat Abiola Way, Opebi Link Bridge, Allen Avenue, and Allen Junction. Additional closures will occur at GTBank on Adeniyi Jones, the AP Filling Station on Oba Akran Avenue, and the Samsung Authorized Service Centre to the Police College Sports Secretariat/Gym.
All junctions and intersections along the race route will also be blocked, with barriers manned by officers from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the police, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps.
Motorists are advised to remain patient, as the affected areas will be intermittently reopened to traffic as the race progresses, Osiyemi assured.
