Kwara governor vows justice for Woro attack victims, inaugurates support committee

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State has assured residents that the state will not succumb to fear or the intimidation of extremist ideologies, promising to pursue justice for the victims of the Woro terrorist attack.

The governor made the statement while inaugurating a seven-member committee tasked with supporting survivors of the February 3 attack, which claimed at least 75 lives and destroyed homes and families.

“Today, my heart remains heavy as we gather in the shadow of the horrible terrorist attack that struck Woro, where at least 75 precious lives—or more—were cruelly taken. We will leave no stone unturned in pursuing justice for our people and strengthening security across our state,” Abdulrazaq said. He added that the state is coordinating with federal authorities and security agencies to prevent similar attacks in the future.

Abdulrazaq explained that the committee’s mandate is to engage directly with affected families, community leaders, and residents to identify their most pressing needs, including rehabilitation, medical support, livelihood restoration, infrastructure rebuilding, and psychosocial care. “The committee is expected to serve as the bridge between the people and government, ensuring that the interventions are community-driven, transparent, and effective,” he said.

Chairman of the committee and Kiwozi of Kugiji, Mr. Ahmed Ibn-Muhammad, assured the governor that the committee would make every effort to reach affected people and address their needs.
