Israel shared fresh intelligence on alleged Iran plot to assassinate Trump — Reports
Israel reportedly shared new intelligence with the United States this week about an alleged Iranian plan to assassinate US President Donald Trump, according to multiple American media reports.
The reports surfaced as tensions between Washington and Tehran escalated following renewed military exchanges, raising concerns that the conflict could spiral into a wider war.
According to CNN, US intelligence agencies had been monitoring what it described as a “steady drumbeat” of threats against Trump. However, the network reported that Israel recently provided intelligence about a new and more specific assassination plot.
The Wall Street Journal also reported that Israeli intelligence pointed to a fresh plan targeting the US president, citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter.
Iran has repeatedly vowed to retaliate against Trump over the January 2020 killing of General Qassem Soleimani, a senior Iranian military commander who was killed in a US drone strike ordered during Trump’s first term in office.
Responding to questions about the reports, a White House official referred to comments Trump made while returning to Washington after attending the NATO summit in Turkey.
“They want to take out the US leader — me. I’m on whatever list. I saw this morning I’m on every single one of their lists,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One.
The reports also drew attention to Trump’s unusual travel arrangements after the summit. The US president departed Turkey aboard the older Air Force One aircraft, while his newer Qatari-gifted presidential jet reportedly flew ahead to Britain, where he later switched planes before continuing his journey to Washington.
The aircraft change sparked speculation over possible security concerns, particularly as the United States carried out fresh strikes against Iran during the same period.
The New York Times reported that the decision to switch aircraft was made at the request of the US Secret Service as a security precaution.
Trump did not directly address the reason for the plane switch during his remarks but referenced previous alleged assassination threats linked to Iran.
Neither US nor Israeli authorities have publicly released evidence regarding the reported assassination plot, while Iranian officials had not responded to the latest claims at the time of reporting.
