Gunmen kill two in fresh Plateau community attack

Tragedy struck the Kuru community in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State on Tuesday night as gunmen launched a fresh assault. The attackers reportedly stormed the Dabwak area, located near the Government Science School, at approximately 10 p.m.

Witnesses say the invaders opened fire indiscriminately on residents, creating a scene of total chaos and panic. Two individuals lost their lives in the shooting, while several others fled into the surrounding bushes for safety.

Community leaders lament continued bloodshed

Rwang Tengwong, the Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM), confirmed the incident during a media briefing. He described the recurring attacks on rural Plateau communities as “one too many” and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life.

The association called on security agencies to move beyond mere condemnations and take proactive steps to protect vulnerable citizens. They emphasized that the lack of arrests has only served to embolden the perpetrators of these violent crimes.

Residents demand improved security measures

Dangwang Elisha, a resident of the affected area, narrated how the gunmen utilized the cover of darkness to carry out the operation. He lamented that many families in the community now live in constant fear of the unknown.

Residents are now calling for a significant increase in security patrols and better intelligence gathering to prevent future occurrences. As at the time of this report, the Plateau State Police Command has not issued an official statement regarding the identities of the victims.
