Funmi Adelakun appeals for help, accuses gospel singer father of restricting her freedom

Funmi Adelakun, daughter of veteran Nigerian gospel singer and televangelist Joseph Adelakun, has publicly accused her father of restricting her freedom and closely monitoring her activities.
The 37-year-old made the allegation in a video shared on social media by Megatestimony, where she appealed to members of the public to intervene.
According to Funmi, she wants to be free to make her own life decisions, claiming she has endured the situation for a long time.
“I need my freedom. They should stop monitoring me and trying to have access to things about me,” she said.
She also appealed to Nigerians to plead with her father on her behalf.
“Good day everyone, my name is Funmi Adelakun. What I need is your help. Please help me beg my father to set me free. I need my freedom because what is happening now is very deep.
“This has been going on for a long time. I need my freedom and this is the height of it. I will explain better soon,” she added.
Reports indicate that Funmi has left her family’s residence in Lagos.
As of the time of filing this report, Joseph Adelakun has not publicly responded to his daughter’s allegations.
