Former senator and Nigerian ambassador, Professor Jibril Aminu, dies at 85

Professor Jibril Aminu, a former Nigerian senator and ambassador, has died at the age of 85. He passed away on Wednesday in Abuja after a prolonged illness.
A renowned cardiologist, Professor Aminu served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States from 1999 to 2003 before representing Adamawa Central Senatorial District in the Senate from 2003 to 2011.
He earned his first medical degree from the University of Ibadan in 1965 and later obtained a PhD in medicine from the Royal Post-Graduate Medical School, London, in 1972.
Professor Aminu is survived by two wives and nine children.
