Finidi downplays Rivers United’s draw against El-Kanemi Warriors

Rivers United head coach Finidi George has responded to his team’s 1-1 home draw against El-Kanemi Warriors, marking the first time this season that the Port Harcourt club has failed to secure a victory at home in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Despite the disappointing result, Rivers United remains at the top of the league table.

“It was not a bad game in general, but I think they came, played counter-attacking football, and scored that goal. From that moment, we had to step up to see how we could get that equaliser,” Finidi remarked in a statement to the club’s media.

Looking ahead, the former Super Eagles coach expressed optimism for the upcoming match against Ikorodu City.

“We are not distracted; we will keep our focus on and see how we can go away and see what we can do. We have to get the players ready for Ikorodu City,” he added.
