FCC warns Nigerians against fake social media accounts of acting chairman

The Federal Character Commission (FCC) has cautioned Nigerians about the circulation of fake Facebook and WhatsApp accounts impersonating its Acting Executive Chairman, Kayode Oladele.

In a statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs and Communication, Mr. Chizea C.C., on Saturday, the Commission said fraudsters have been using Oladele’s photograph to send friend requests and lure unsuspecting Nigerians with false claims of recruitment opportunities and political appointments.

“The Commission hereby wishes to inform the general public that Hon. Kayode Oladele does not own or operate any Facebook or WhatsApp account for the purpose of recruitment, employment, or political appointments. Members of the public are strongly advised not to accept any friend requests or engage with such fraudulent accounts in any way,” the statement read.

The FCC urged those who may have interacted with the fake accounts to block and report them to security agencies to avoid falling victim to online scams.

Reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding its integrity, the Commission assured Nigerians that it will continue working to protect the public from fraudulent schemes.
