Ex-nPDP spokesperson Eze slams APC’s Akindele over election claims

Eze hits back at criticism of Atiku, Obi, and Amaechi
Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, former spokesperson of the now-defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), has fired back at APC chieftain Ayekooto Akindele over comments targeting Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rotimi Amaechi.
Akindele had claimed the trio hadn’t won any meaningful elections in Nigeria — a statement Eze called “utter rubbish” and “attention-seeking.”
“No fair elections to judge them by” — Eze
Eze argued that Atiku and Obi have yet to participate in a truly credible and fair electoral process in Nigeria. “Depending on what Akindele meant by ‘election,’ none of them have been given a level playing field,” he said.
He also pushed back against the idea that Amaechi’s political influence ended with his fallout with Nyesom Wike.
Amaechi’s record speaks for itself, says Eze
Eze pointed out that Rotimi Amaechi served as Director-General of President Muhammadu Buhari’s campaign in both the 2015 and 2019 elections, leading the APC to victory.
“If Akindele thinks Amaechi hasn’t won any election, then he clearly doesn’t understand Nigeria’s political landscape,” Eze said.
He dismissed the APC presidential primary — in which Amaechi ran — as a “charade” where the outcome was allegedly sold to the highest bidder.
Wike himself acknowledged Peter Obi’s win
Referencing public comments by Wike, Eze noted that the Rivers State governor had admitted Peter Obi won in the state during the 2023 election — a result Wike later credited to Bola Tinubu for political reasons.
Final shots
Eze concluded by accusing Akindele of spreading “gutter narratives” and playing to the gallery for cheap political relevance.
“I have no intention of boosting the profile of a public-seeking fellow like Akindele, but it’s important to set the record straight,” he said.
