EPL: Liverpool draws Man City, keep Arsenal at the summit
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool faced off against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in an anticipated title race clash yesterday, March 10.
It was a well-contested match between two English powerhouses as both managers vied for a win that would take them to first place. Unfortunately, neither team could find anything to separate them, and both managers had to share the points after the full-time whistle went on the night.
John Stones took the lead for the visitors Man City when he headed home Kevin De Bruyne’s cross from a corner in the 23rd minute. Man City went in at halftime with the lead, but three minutes into the second half, Ederson fouled Darwin Nunez inside the penalty area, giving away a penalty kick. Alexis Mac Allister converted the resulting penalty. The game ended 1-1.
This result implies that Arsenal, who climbed to the top of the table on Saturday night with a win over Brentford, stays at the top of the table having now played the same number of games as its two contenders. They remain on the same number of points as Liverpool but have a superior goal difference.
With the pressure turned up to the max, neither Liverpool, Man City, or Arsenal can afford to slip up in the coming games, or that could mean the end of the title race for whoever does.
