EiE Nigeria marks 15 years of citizen activism, to celebrate milestone December 10

Enough is Enough (EiE) Nigeria, one of the country’s leading civic movements, will on December 10 mark its 15th anniversary with a landmark event in Lagos aimed at celebrating its role in strengthening democratic accountability and citizen participation.

The anniversary, themed “Footprints & Frontlines,” will highlight the organisation’s impact over the past decade and a half, as well as ongoing efforts to deepen civic action across Nigeria. Director-General of the World Trade Organization, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, is billed to headline the event, which will be hosted by media personalities Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and Ayo Mairo-Ese.

According to the organisers, the theme reflects both EiE’s history and its continued work. “Footprints” speaks to EiE’s record of protests, civic tech innovations, policy advocacy, voter mobilisation and youth engagement. “Frontlines” captures the everyday spaces—schools, courts, markets, studios and online platforms—where Nigerians continue to push for accountability and national progress.

A documentary chronicling EiE’s 15-year journey will premiere at the event, spotlighting its Executive Director, Opeyemi Adamolekun, whose leadership has shaped the organisation since 2010.

Reflecting on the milestone, Adamolekun said EiE’s work has shown that “a small group of committed citizens can reawaken a nation’s conscience,” adding that the group remains focused on strengthening accountability and promoting active citizenship.

Founded in 2010, EiE has played a prominent role in Nigeria’s democratic activism. Its #RSVP (Register, Select, Vote, Protect) campaign mobilised millions of young voters, while the #OfficeOfTheCitizen platform helped expand civic education across digital spaces. The organisation has also been central to campaigns for electoral reform, government transparency, constitutional accountability and the #EndSARS movement.

EiE says the anniversary event will serve both as a moment of reflection and a call to renewed civic engagement as Nigeria continues to navigate governance and accountability challenges.
