EFCC returns over $132,000 and N78 million to fraud victims from U.S., Spain, and Switzerland

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of Nigeria has handed over a total sum of $132,362.43 and N78,566,324.81 to victims of fraud from the United States, Spain, and Switzerland. The restitution also included vehicles and real estate.

EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede performed the handover at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja, emphasizing Nigeria’s commitment to fighting financial crimes and fostering international cooperation.

Key restitutions include:
1. Spain:
• Maria Del Rosario San Jose: $1,300 and N30 million transferred via the Spanish Embassy.
2. Switzerland:
• Chantai Helene Lavancy (formerly Maeder): $100,011.43, received by Swiss Embassy official Florent Geel.
3. United States:
• Maria Jesus Brockell: $7,344, N7,963,483.35, and Bitcoin worth $4,470.
• Michael Smith: $7,527.
• Cheryle Williams: $11,710.
• Assets handed over:
• Mercedes Benz E550 4Matic (Chassis No: WDDHF9AB6AA111112).
• Mercedes Benz C450 AMG (Chassis No: WDD20J0641F282467).
• A residential bungalow in Kaduna (17/19 Seaman Street, Unguwar Maigero).

This restitution reflects Nigeria’s effort to combat fraud, recover stolen assets, and ensure justice for victims worldwide.
