Former Manchester United star David Beckham has tipped Newcastle United to shock fans in the Champions League this season.
Newcastle, managed by Eddie Howe, qualified for the Champions League by finishing fifth in the Premier League last season. They also clinched the Carabao Cup title, beating Liverpool in the final.
Speaking to CBS Sports, Beckham said, “My surprise would have to be Newcastle because people are already writing them off. I think Newcastle are a good team, and I think they’ve got some good players. They’re very together as a team, and as fans, and as a club. I think that they could surprise a few people.”
The Magpies kick off their Champions League campaign against Barcelona at Camp Nou this Thursday.
However, in the Premier League, Newcastle currently sit 10th after picking up just five points from their first four matches of the 2025-26 season.
