Danny Murphy predicts Tottenham to win Europa League final against Manchester United
Former Liverpool star Danny Murphy has shared his thoughts on the upcoming UEFA Europa League final between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, offering his prediction for the all-English showdown.
The two Premier League clubs will face off in the final on Wednesday night in Bilbao, Spain, after both secured their spots in the competition’s finale by overcoming Athletic Bilbao and Bodø/Glimt, respectively, in the semi-finals earlier this month.
Murphy, whose ties to Tottenham run deep, tipped Spurs to come out on top in the clash. “My Tottenham roots pull me towards them and I want them to win [the Europa League] of course,” he said during his appearance on Match of the Day 2.
In contrast, Serie A side Atalanta, the defending champions, triumphed in the 2024 Europa League, defeating Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 in the final. Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman scored a goal in the final, which took place at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland.
