Dangote Cement head of treasury buys 986 shares in disclosed insider deal

Dangote Cement Plc, Sub-Saharan Africa’s largest cement producer, has notified the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) and investors of an insider share purchase.
The filing, titled “NOTIFICATION OF SHARE DEALING BY INSIDERS” and signed by Company Secretary Edward Imoedemhe, said Head of Treasury Omode Emmanuel Oladimeji bought 986 ordinary shares worth N996,491.01. The notice is an initial disclosure under Rule 111 of the NGX Rules Governing Director and Insider Dealings, which requires listed firms to publish equity trades by internal stakeholders.
The purchase was made on the Lagos floor on 4 May 2026 in two tranches: 263 shares at N1,008.15 and 723 shares at N1,013.13. The volume-weighted average price was N1,010.64 a share.
Insider buys are watched as a signal of how people inside a company view its prospects. The size of this ticket is modest next to Dangote Cement’s free float. It is not a controlling stake and it is not a sale. What it does establish is that a senior treasury officer put almost a million naira of personal money into the stock at just over N1,010, and that the company put the trade on the tape as the rules demand.
Transparency here is the point of the rule. Investors can see who bought, how many units, at what prices and on which date. They can decide for themselves whether 986 shares mean conviction or merely a small personal allocation. The filing does not interpret the trade. It records it.
In a market that often learns about insider movement late or not at all, a same-regime notice of a sub-N1 million purchase is still the mechanism working as designed: sunlight on the ticket, not a forecast of the next results.
