Court grants bail to Sowore, Kanu’s lawyer, and 11 others

A Magistrate’s Court in the Kuje area of Abuja on Friday granted bail to former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore, Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer Aloy Ejimakor, and 11 others accused of inciting public disturbance.

The 13 defendants, including Kanu’s brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, were each granted bail in the sum of ₦500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

They were charged with inciting public disturbance and breach of peace following the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest held on October 20 in Abuja.

Ejimakor, Emmanuel Kanu, and 10 others were arrested during the protest and remanded at the Kuje Correctional Facility, while Sowore was later detained on October 23 at the Federal High Court in Abuja, where he had gone to show solidarity during Kanu’s terrorism trial.
