Chelsea to offload over 15 players this summer as Maresca reshapes squad

Chelsea are preparing for a major squad overhaul this summer, with more than 15 players set to leave the club, according to The Guardian.

New head coach Enzo Maresca, fresh off securing Champions League qualification and a Europa Conference League title, is wasting no time in reshaping the team ahead of the 2025/26 season and this month’s FIFA Club World Cup.

While the Blues remain active in the transfer market — with Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap reportedly close to joining — the club must trim its bloated squad to meet financial and registration requirements.

A number of players who were loaned out last season have now been transfer listed. These include:

  • Renato Veiga

  • Carney Chukwuemeka

  • Ben Chilwell

  • Axel Disasi

  • Raheem Sterling

  • Lesley Ugochukwu

  • Djordje Petrovic

  • João Félix

In addition, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Christopher Nkunku, both of whom struggled to find consistency in the Premier League, are now available for transfer.

Trevoh Chalobah impressed last season, but his future remains uncertain, while Wesley Fofana could be sold if a serious offer is made, amid ongoing concerns about his injury record.

Goalkeeper Robert Sánchez may also be offloaded if Chelsea secure a new shot-stopper this summer.

Striker Nicolas Jackson, who has had an up-and-down spell since joining, could depart if another forward — in addition to Delap — is signed.

Noni Madueke, signed from PSV Eindhoven for £30 million in January 2023, has also been placed on the market.

With the Club World Cup looming and the new Premier League season on the horizon, Maresca and Chelsea’s hierarchy appear determined to reset the squad and balance the books — all while aiming to build a side capable of challenging on multiple fronts.
