CAFWCL: Edo Queens aim for third place finish, says Aduku
Edo Queens head coach Moses Aduku has expressed his team’s determination to finish the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League campaign on a high note by securing third place.
The Nigerian champions were defeated 3-1 by TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo in the semi-final on Tuesday. Edo Queens will now face Egypt’s FC Masar in the third-place match on Friday.
Aduku emphasized the importance of leaving the tournament with a medal, saying, “It’s a football game, you win some, you lose some. But we are not down, we are not out yet, we are fighting for the 3rd place.”
He added, “So by tomorrow (Friday), I am expecting my girls to go all out and see how they can win the bronze medal. I know it’s not going to be an easy one, the Egyptian team is also a good team. The last time we played them, it ended goalless, but I believe a goalless result won’t give us a bronze. We definitely need to go all out to win.”
