Burnley holds on to draw against Chelsea, Palmer shines 

Chelsea welcomed 19th-placed Burnley to Stamford Bridge in what was going to be the Blues 28th game, and the Clarets’ 30th.

Burnley made away with a precious draw, chasing the game for 90 minutes and needing two equalizers to make it happen.

Chelsea thought it had opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, but Axel Disasi was adjudged to have scored a goal with his hand by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

Chelsea eventually did take the lead in the 44th minute through a penalty. The penalty incident also produced a second yellow card for Lorenz Assignon, reducing the visiting side to 10 men.

Burnley equalized for the first time as the second half started, through a Josh Cullen goal in the 47th minute.

Chelsea took the lead again through a Cole Palmer strike in the 78th minute, but Burnley refused to be beaten, as Dara O’Shea headed home the second equalizer of the game in the 81st minute.

Chelsea had many good chances to score and win the game, but they wasted them.

This result means Chelsea remains in 11th and Burnley remains in 19th place.
