Burna Boy, Davido absent as others light up AFRIMA awards night

Top Nigerian artistes Burna Boy and Davido were notably absent from the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) ceremony despite being among the event’s major winners and headliners.

Burna Boy clinched the Album of the Year award but did not appear to receive the honour, while Davido was also missing from the ceremony, leaving many fans disappointed, especially those from other African countries who had anticipated seeing the stars perform or appear on stage.

Despite their absence, the awards night remained lively as several African music stars delivered memorable moments. Nigerian artistes Phyno, Shallipopi and Yemi Alade, alongside Ghanaian singer Wendy Shay, took centre stage and helped sustain the excitement throughout the event.

The ceremony featured electrifying performances, including a notable reunion between Ghana’s Stonebwoy and Nigeria’s Mr P, who performed their 2025 collaboration, “ODO”, blending Afrobeats and dancehall in a display of cross-cultural unity.

The night also witnessed surprise appearances by Seyi Vibez, Fuji music legend Adewale Ayuba, and veteran singer Bright Chimezie, famed for his Zigima Sound, adding to what organisers described as an unforgettable celebration of African music.
