Brighton thrash Chelsea as European hopes fade

Chelsea suffered a devastating blow to their Champions League aspirations following a 3-0 defeat at Brighton. The Blues looked completely out of sorts at the Amex Stadium as they recorded their fifth consecutive loss in all competitions.
The London club has failed to score a single league goal since March 14, highlighting a severe crisis in their attacking department. This latest result has seen them drop further down the table, making a European finish look nearly impossible.
Brighton dominate the Blues from the start
The hosts took the lead just three minutes into the game through a strike by Ferdi Kadioglu. Brighton controlled the tempo throughout the first half and were arguably unlucky not to be leading by a wider margin at the break.
Chelsea failed to mount any significant comeback in the second period, as the home side continued to pile on the pressure. The defeat further piles pressure on the management as fans grow increasingly frustrated with the team’s poor run of form.
Tactical errors lead to fifth consecutive loss
Jack Hinshelwood doubled the lead for the Seagulls shortly after the restart, effectively killing off any hope for the visitors. Late in the game, Danny Welbeck came off the bench to add a third goal, sealing a dominant performance.
With this victory, Brighton has officially leapfrogged Chelsea into sixth place on the Premier League table. The Blues now face a difficult path as they try to salvage what remains of a disappointing domestic campaign.
