The Benue State Steering Committee of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has formally passed a vote of confidence in its protem state chairman, Rt. Hon. Terngu Tsegba, acknowledging his efforts in strengthening the party’s presence across the state.
This endorsement was made public through a communiqué issued following a strategic meeting of the committee held at Naivasha Villas in Abuja.
Recognition of leadership and grassroots impact
In the communiqué, which was signed by Gabriel T. Nyitse on behalf of the committee, Hon. Tsegba was praised for his dedication and hands-on leadership. The committee noted that under his guidance, the ADC’s message had successfully reached every corner of Benue State, setting the foundation for future growth and political impact.
“Hon. Tsegba and his team have worked tirelessly to spread the party’s message across all parts of Benue State,” the statement said, highlighting the chairman’s visible commitment to grassroots engagement and party mobilisation.

The State Steering Committee also extended its gratitude to local government and ward officials whose enthusiastic mobilisation efforts led to impressive turnouts during the unveiling of the ADC in the state.
“These officials have demonstrated exceptional dedication, which has significantly helped in building the party’s structures at the grassroots level,” the committee noted.
Their involvement, the communiqué emphasized, reflects the growing interest in the ADC as a credible alternative in Benue’s political landscape.
Appreciation for national leaders
The communiqué further acknowledged the fatherly support of prominent national leaders who have played key roles in fostering the growth of the ADC in Benue State. In particular, the committee recognized former Senate President, Senator David Mark, who serves as the National Chairman of the party, and Senator Gabriel Suswam, for their advisory and strategic contributions.
The leaders were commended for “helping to entrench the party in Benue” through both moral and logistical support, which has enhanced the credibility and appeal of the party across different constituencies.
Emphasis on unity and internal discipline
While celebrating its recent successes, the Steering Committee also used the opportunity to caution party members against behaviours that could undermine the party’s cohesion and progress. It stressed that distrust and indiscipline are among the fastest ways to derail a growing political movement.
“Members must continue to work in unity, with a shared vision for the party and the people,” the communiqué stated. The call to uphold discipline reflects the party’s intent to avoid internal conflict, which has plagued several political organisations in Nigeria.

Recognizing the importance of media in building public awareness and engagement, the committee appreciated journalists and media organisations for their role in publicising ADC activities. The party urged continued partnership with the media to help advance its message not only within Benue State but across the nation.
“We urge the media to continue supporting the party’s growth across Benue and Nigeria at large,” the statement added, pointing to the role of credible media coverage in Nigeria’s democratic process.
