Bandit leader Kachalla Tukur defeated in battle
On Saturday, September 21, a group of bandits clashed in a fierce battle, leading to the defeat of their leader, Kachalla Tukur Sharme.
This news was shared by Samuel Aruwan, the Overseeing Commissioner for the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs in Kaduna State.
Aruwan explained, “Aside from Sharme, two other bandits from a rival group were also killed in the clash. Fortunately, this skirmish allowed some kidnapped citizens to escape and return home.”
He continued, “According to our sources, five bandits were hurt in the fight and are now hiding in the area, looking for help to treat their injuries.”
Kachalla Sharme was known for his involvement in many crimes, including the kidnapping of people and stealing livestock. He met his end in a battle between his gang and a rival group in a place called ‘Hambakko,’ located in the Rijana and Kaso Forests.
“Sharme had narrowly avoided capture by security forces several times before this incident,” Aruwan added.
Sharme’s group was responsible for many attacks and kidnappings in places like Millenium City, Maraban Rido, and Kujama, as well as in other areas in Kaduna and neighboring states.
One of his most notorious acts was the kidnapping of 121 students from Bethel Baptist High School in Kujama on July 5, 2021.
Tragically, during efforts to stop Sharme and his gang, two security personnel lost their lives.
Residents of Rijana, Kaso, and nearby areas are reminded to be cautious and not help anyone who seems suspicious and may be injured. Instead, they should contact local security forces or the Kaduna State Security Operations Room at 09034000060 or 08170189999.
“As always, any information shared will be kept confidential,” Aruwan assured.
