On Thursday, March 13, Mrs. MaryCynthia Ogechukwu Nnanuelugo made a heartfelt plea for help in finding her husband, Hyginus Arinze Nnanuelugo, who has been missing since Thursday, July 11. He was taken by kidnappers in Onitsha, and his whereabouts remain unknown.

“I am begging everyone to help me find my husband—whether he is alive or not,” Mrs. Nnanuelugo said, clearly upset as she shared the hardship her family has faced since his disappearance.

In a sworn statement made at the Law Chambers of Sir Ben Chudi Izuegbu, Mrs. Nnanuelugo explained the terrifying events that took place on the evening of July 11. Around 8:30 p.m., as her husband was driving home, he was attacked by gunmen in a tricycle near Modebe Secondary School in Odoakpu, Onitsha. The criminals forced him out of his gold-colored Lexus RX 300 Jeep (License plate FGG 693 HC) and took both him and the car.

She shared more details to help identify the car, including the vehicle’s Engine Number (1MZ*4371507) and Chassis Number (MCU10-0052334). She also asked for the help of security agencies to track down both her husband and the vehicle.

The missing person’s report was officially filed the next day, on Friday, July 12, at the Fegge Police Division in Onitsha. The police confirmed the kidnapping and noted that the criminals had used the tricycle to block the car before taking Mr. Nnanuelugo away.

In an effort to spread the word, Mrs. Nnanuelugo spent ₦35,000 for radio announcements on Radio Sapientia, which aired on Tuesday, July 23.

“I’m asking the government, individuals, and any human rights organizations to help me find my husband,” she pleaded, hoping someone would come forward with information.

Her emotional call for help continues as she waits for answers.
