Angela Okorie apologizes to Mercy Johnson after cyberbullying case

Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has publicly apologized to her colleague, Mercy Johnson Okojie, following accusations of cyberbullying.

Okorie was arrested on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at her Lagos residence by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Center, Abuja, over the alleged online harassment. She was remanded in Suleja Prison by an Abuja court on Wednesday, January 29.

On Friday, January 30, a Federal High Court in Abuja granted Okorie bail. Justice Emeka Nwite set bail at N5 million with one surety in the same amount, following a bail application filed by her lawyer, Earnest Nwoye.

In a heartfelt video shared online, Okorie addressed Mercy Johnson directly, apologizing for any past actions or words that may have caused harm. “This video is specifically for Mercy and her kids and her family. I am not perfect, and I want to apologize. If it’s my words, anything I’ve written, anytime your name pops up on social media, I am deeply sorry,” she said.

She added: “You are not a witch. You are not what people are calling you. I just want to make peace. Our kids may meet and become friends, and as mothers, we cannot stop that. I do not condone bullying, and I apologize for anything I might have done or said against you, knowingly or unknowingly. This is a new beginning. You are my friend, and I will never listen to gossip about you again. I love you, and I pray that God blesses and lifts you higher.”
