Andoni Iraola to leave Bournemouth at end of season

Andoni Iraola will step down as the manager of Bournemouth at the conclusion of the current Premier League campaign. The club officially announced the departure on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, after contract negotiations failed to reach an agreement.
The 43-year-old Spaniard joined the Cherries in 2023 and quickly became one of the most respected coaches in the top flight. He famously led the club to a record points tally of 56 and their highest-ever finish of ninth last season.
Potential move to Manchester United or Spain
Iraola’s successful stint in England has made him a top target for several elite European clubs. He has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United or a return to his former club, Athletic Bilbao, in Spain.
The manager expressed his pride in a club statement, noting that it was an honor to lead the side to such heights. Despite Bournemouth’s desire to keep him at the Vitality Stadium, Iraola will likely leave as a free agent this summer.
Chasing European qualification in final weeks
The Spaniard still has six games left to play and could finish his tenure on a historic high. Bournemouth currently sits 11th in the table, just two points away from a spot in the next season’s Conference League.
Iraola recently oversaw a stunning 2-1 victory over league leaders Arsenal, proving his tactical brilliance. His final home game will be against Manchester City on May 17, where fans are expected to give him a massive send-off.
