Amorim excludes five Manchester United players from pre-season training amid transfer plans

New Manchester United manager Rúben Amorim has instructed five senior players to stay away from the club’s Carrington training base as pre-season preparations begin, according to The Telegraph (UK).

The players affected—Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia—have reportedly been told not to report with the rest of the first-team squad, as they are expected to leave the club this summer.

While most of the quintet spent last season on loan, their omission signals that they are no longer in United’s long-term plans under Amorim:

  • Antony was loaned to Real Betis,

  • Sancho to Chelsea,

  • Malacia to PSV,

  • Rashford joined Aston Villa in January,

  • Garnacho, despite staying at United throughout the season, now appears to be out of favour.

The decision underscores Amorim’s intent to reshape the squad significantly following his arrival. The Portuguese coach has already secured the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves and is reportedly eyeing Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo as another key addition in attack.

The move to sideline prominent names like Rashford and Garnacho reflects a decisive break from the previous regime and signals a bold start to Amorim’s tenure at Old Trafford.
