Alia’s administration constructs over 390km of roads cross Benue
The Benue State Government under Governor Hyacinth Alia has embarked on the construction of more than 390 kilometers of roads across the 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state, with several projects already completed and others at various stages of execution.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Tersoo Kula, disclosed this in Makurdi after inspecting ongoing works in the state capital. He said the projects were part of the administration’s broader mission to transform Benue and improve the lives of residents through people-oriented development.
According to him, 16 township roads have been completed under the first phase of the program, while 25 others are currently under construction within Makurdi. He added that the government’s infrastructural drive also includes major projects such as the Benue Brewery Limited, Benue Fruit Company, the Makurdi and Gboko underpasses, and the multi-billion naira Cancer Centre at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital.
Other projects cited include the completion of the Otobi Water Works in Zone C, renovation and construction of schools across the state, and the establishment of a new university at Ihugh in Vandeikya Local Government Area.
Kula stressed that these initiatives would enhance healthcare, education, mobility, and public utilities across the state. “Benue will no longer remain the same. The Governor is committed to development, and many of the projects are nearing completion, signaling a new era of prosperity,” he said.
