Fulham and Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi, has officially weighed in on the long-standing debate between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. During a podcast appearance, the Nigerian star chose the Inter Miami captain as the greatest player of all time.
Iwobi explained that while both players possess incredible talent, he experienced something unique when facing Messi on the pitch. He noted that the Argentine maestro often seems to have an untouchable aura during matches.
The radius no one could enter
The Nigerian midfielder recalled his experiences playing against both legends at the highest level of football. While he acknowledged that Cristiano Ronaldo carries a “crazy” aura, he described Messi’s ball control as being on a different level.
“Every time he had the ball, there was like a radius where no one could enter that and tackle him,” Iwobi stated. This personal observation influenced his decision to rank Messi above his Portuguese rival.
