Akpodoro backs FG’s decision to drop Kwam 1, Emmanson charges

FG praised for compassion and quick action
Former militant leader Eshanekpe Israel, better known as Akpodoro, says the Federal Government’s decision to drop criminal charges against Fuji star Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (Kwam 1) and Ms. Comfort Emmanson shows “compassion and sensitivity” to public sentiment.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) had earlier pressed charges over separate incidents at Nigerian airports, but both cases have now been withdrawn. Akpodoro said the issues could have been avoided if more caution was shown by everyone involved.
Call for mental health support
Akpodoro urged the government to focus on rehabilitation rather than punishment, especially for Emmanson, who he described as a young person in need of mental health care.
“Deterrence has been served. Her mental health should be well-catered for to prevent a repeat,” he said.
Praise for Keyamo’s role
The former militant leader commended Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo for stepping in quickly, noting that lifting the flight bans on both individuals sends a corrective rather than purely punitive message for “first-time offenders.”
Push for pilot reinstatement and airline reforms
Akpodoro also called for the reinstatement of ValueJet pilots linked to Kwam 1’s case and a complete lifting of all travel bans. He urged the Minister to tighten airline regulations, especially on flight delays and cancellations, and enforce sanctions when necessary.
